NC Community Foundation’s statewide women’s fund awards $16,000 in grants

Raleigh – The Women’s Fund of North Carolina, held by the North Carolina Community Foundation, recently awarded $16,000 in grants to organizations across the state, according to Leslie Ann Jackson, director of grants and scholarships. “We are so pleased to support important programming throughout North Carolina that helps to improve the lives of women and children,” she said. “We are seeing a lot of good work.”

 

Grants in 2018 were awarded to:

  • Women’s Resource Center, Hickory -- $2,500 for Community Outreach Project

  • Girls Scout Council of Colonial Coast, Elizabeth City -- $2,000 for Reaching Out: Girls Scouts for our Most Promising Girls

  • Randolph Health, Asheboro -- $2,000 for the Mammogram Fund

  • TROSA (Triangle Residential Options for Substance Abusers, Inc.), Durham -- $2,000 for Residential Substance Abuse Recovery Services for Women

  • Domestic Violence Shelter and Services, Inc., Wilmington -- $1,500 for Emergency Assistance for Victims of Domestic Violence

  • Girls Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines, Robeson County -- $1,500 for the Robeson County Girl Scout Leadership Experience

  • YWCA Lower Cape Fear, Wilmington -- $1,500 for New Choices Economic Empowerment

  • Healing Household 6, Richlands/Onslow County -- $1,000 for Life After Caregiving

  • Michaels Angels Girls Club, Tarboro -- $1,000 for InTouch: Girls Circle

  • InterAct, Raleigh -- $1,000 for Rebuilding Lives and Securing Safer Futures at InterAct’s Solace Center

 
About the Women’s Fund of North Carolina
 
The Women's Fund of North Carolina was founded to establish a permanent endowment dedicated to improving the quality of lives of women and children, encourage philanthropic giving among women and to assign a higher priority to issues and concerns of women and their families. The competitive grants program is generally announced in the summer, with grants awarded in the fall. The grants committee is comprised of representatives of NCCF’s local women’s giving networks. NCCF supports seven regionally based giving programs across the state.
