Understanding the financial health and solvency of a potential grantee is an important aspect of making sound funding decisions.  Many staff members are hired to foundations for their programmatic knowledge and skill set, not for their financial knowledge, yet assessing the financial situation of grantees is a critical and often underestimated aspect of ensuring the success of the foundation’s investments.

Join this meeting on Friday, September 28 in Chapel Hill from 10:30am - 12:00pm featuring UNC School of Social Work professor, Mat Despard to learn what makes a financially healthy organization.  The presentation will cover analyzing financial statements, including balance sheets, 990s, annual operating budgets, and project budgets to find a deeper understanding and picture of the organization’s financial strengths and weaknesses. Mat will also discuss comprehensive proposal reviews including analyzing grants budgets and proposals in the context the organization’s overall financial health.

A reservation will be made for participants at this meeting to have lunch together at a local restaurant.  Please register above and indicate whether you'll be joining the group for lunch.
