The Northern Albemarle Community Foundation (NACF) announces that it has activated its Albemarle Disaster Relief Fund to immediately support relief efforts related to Hurricane Earl.

The NACF is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation (NCCF), which accepts credit card donations online through its website under the Giving tab at nccommunityfoundation.org or by downloading a contribution form from the site. Checks can be mailed to the NCCF headquarters office in Raleigh at 4601 Six Forks Road, Suite 524, Raleigh, NC 27609. Please designate your gift for Albemarle Disaster Relief Fund. All gifts are tax-deductible.

All funds will go directly to the Greater Albemarle Chapter of the American Red Cross and Food Bank of the Albemarle to assist local victims. The NACF board has already approved $2,000 in funds for local relief to these agencies.

NACF President Marilyn Madrin and the local advisory board approved the actions in meetings held Thursday morning. "This is the first time we have distributed assets from this fund to specifically assist our community following a natural disaster, and we are thrilled to help out in this way,” she said. "We continue to seek donations to be ready when the need is there."
