A recent Op-Ed in The News & Observer of Raleigh co-authored by HWTF executive director, Dr. Laura Gerald and the Chair of its Commission, Dr. Chuck Willson, highlighted the fundamental role of prevention in the health and wellness of all North Carolinians. It points out that North Carolina ranks 37 out of the 50 states in overall health.
It also notes that our state has more smokers, higher rates of obesity and fewer physically active citizens than many other states. These are hard facts to face.
They point to the critical importance, however, of the Health and Wellness Trust that is based on the belief that North Carolinians deserve better. It makes for a compelling case for HWTF. To read the entire article, click here.
