BCBSNC Foundation awards Health Eating grant

2011 BLUE CROSS AND BLUE SHIELD OF NORTH CAROLINA FOUNDATION HEALTHY EATING EQUIPMENT GRANT PROJECT ORDINANCE

WHEREAS, the City of Durham, through the Durham Parks and Recreation Department, has been awarded a grant from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation valued at $5,000.00; and

WHEREAS, the City is committed to providing services and facilities that will increase awareness and interest in healthy foods to Durham residents through the access and participation in growing fruits and vegetables at Recreation and Neighborhood Centers; and

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Durham deems this activity to be a worthy and desirable undertaking;

NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO N.C.G.S. 159-13.2, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DURHAM that:

Section 1. The grant project described in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation Grant Agreement is hereby authorized to be undertaken to receive equipment beginning May 3, 2011.

Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to execute the grant agreement and other documents that are required or appropriate in order for the City to receive the grant as approved by the Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation.

Section 3. The following donation is anticipated to be available to the City of Durham to complete the project: FY 2011 $5,000.00

Section 4. The following amount is appropriated for the project: 2011 BLUE CROSS AND BLUE SHIELD OF NORTH CAROLINA FOUNDATION HEALTHY EATING EQUIPMENT GRANT $5,000.00

Section 5. Within five days after this ordinance is adopted, the City Clerk shall file a copy of this ordinance with the Finance Director, Accounting Services Manager and the Budget
Director.
