Carolinas Credit Union Foundation announces gifts for disaster relief

KERNVERSVILLE, NC - As communities in the Carolinas continue with Hurricane Matthew recovery efforts, the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation recently presented a donation of $20,000 to the Disaster Relief Fund at North Carolina Community Foundation and $20,000 to the One SC Relief Fund, housed at the Central Carolina Community Foundation. According to Lauren Whaley, Credit Union Foundation president, this follows an already $50,000 disbursed in the form of quick impact grants directly to credit union members who lost their homes and personal possessions.

2017 Forsyth County Teacher Grants Announced

The Winston-Salem Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2017 Forsyth County Teacher Grants for professional development to K-12th grade teachers in the WinstonSalem/Forsyth County Schools.  A total of $53,720 was granted to 32 teacher grantees (see following pages).  The selection committee, comprised of a panel of professional educators, made the awards in support of innovative and results-oriented educational experiences for teachers to improve their teaching ability and enhance the subject or content being taught in the classroom.

Mebane Foundation Funds Five Year Multi-Million Dollar Strategic Initiative to Address Early Success

The Mebane Charitable Foundation, located in Mocksville, NC, has approved a grant of almost $2.5 million to Davie County Schools to support a five-year early literacy initiative to improve kindergarten readiness and to increase the percentage of students reading proficiently by the end of third grade.
