With $7.25M Charitable Grant from Anonymous Trust, NC State’s College of Education to Launch Transformational Scholarships Program to Prepare 100 Teachers for Eastern NC

NC State’s College of Education has received a $7.25 million charitable grant from the Anonymous Trust to establish the Transformational Scholarships Program and prepare 100 teachers for counties in Eastern North Carolina with fewer resources but greater needs. This is the largest gift the College of Education has received for student scholarships since records have been kept, and among the largest of its kind ever awarded to any college of education in North Carolina to prepare teachers.

Women for Women Giving Circle Announces $310,000 in Grants Supporting WNC Women and Girls

(May 2021) – Women for Women recently awarded seven grants totaling $310,000. With these awards and in its 16th year of grantmaking, the giving circle has invested more than $4.4 million to support programs serving WNC women and girls.

Women for Women’s mission is to improve the lives of women and girls through collective giving. The giving circle always welcomes new members; membership information is at www.cfwnc.org.

WCMS Launches Mobile Vaccine Clinics

Asheville, NC – Western Carolina Medical Society (WCMS) and Project Access® are pleased to announce a new mobile vaccine initiative to address health inequities in COVID 19 vaccine distribution. The WCMS Mobile Vaccine Clinic Collaborative will enable WCMS to bring COVID vaccine clinics to where people live to reach historically marginalized communities. WCMS is working with partners including Centro Unido Latino Américano (CULA), True Ridge, Compañeros Inmigrantes de las Montañas en Acción (CIMA), Asheville Buncombe Institute for Parity Achievement (ABIPA), Blue Ridge Community Health Services and Dale Fell Health Center to address some of the barriers keeping people from accessing the COVID vaccine. This work is supported by an $80,000 grant from Dogwood Health Trust.

Triangle Capacity Building Network Awards $312,000 in Capacity Building Grants to Local Nonprofits Led by and Serving People of Color

Triangle Capacity Building Network, comprised of a collaborative of local funders, has awarded $312,000 in capacity building grants as part of their continued commitment to the nonprofit ecosystem in the region. These grants, ranging between $10,000 -$15,000 and awarded to 24 local organizations, prioritize nonprofits led by and serving people of color. The grants will support staff and leadership’s ability to invest in an organizational capacity- building project that will allow their organization to better serve the community.
