A collaborative of local stakeholders is taking steps to bridge the digital divide in Forsyth County, North Carolina. Following stay-at-home orders in spring 2020, a group of community members came together to address a pervasive issue that was exacerbated by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic: digital inclusion.

Laughing Gull Foundation Launches Its Climate & Environment Program with $450,000 in Grants to Organizations In The U.S. South

Durham, NC – The Laughing Gull Foundation (LGF) is pleased to announce the launch of its Climate & Environment Program with $450,000 in grants awarded to seven organizations focused on climate and environment work in the U.S. South.

Creative Solutions for Local Transportation Challenges

WE BELIEVE THAT ALL Forsyth County residents should have access to efficient and affordable transportation so they can buy healthy food, receive essential healthcare, and obtain and maintain good employment. To support this effort, the Foundation recently announced six grants totaling $169,600 for creative solutions to local transportation challenges.

THE BLACK PHILANTHROPY INITIATIVE announced $7,000 in Impact Grants during Black History Month in February. BPI’s Impact Grants are investments in a variety of programs, projects, and initiatives supporting Forsyth County’s Black communities.

Golden LEAF announces $15.2 million in awards, leverages $14 million in other funds

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C., (April 1, 2021) – Today, the Golden LEAF Board of Directors awarded $15.2 million in funding to support projects through the Community-Based Grant Initiative in the Northwest Prosperity Zone, Economic Catalyst Program, Open Grants Program, and Disaster Recovery Grant Program.

Dogwood Health Trust Introduces New Grantmaking Process; Launches Online Grant Application Portal

Asheville, N.C. (March 31, 2021) – In an effort to make grants more readily accessible and to streamline the grantmaking process, Dogwood Health Trust has launched an online grant application portal for organizations serving all or part of 18 Western North Carolina counties and The Qualla Boundary. Dogwood is most interested in projects that address one or more of the organization’s four strategic priorities: Housing, Education, Economic Opportunity, and Health & Wellness. WNC Bridge Foundation Announces St. Gerard House as NOW Grant Recipient

WNC Bridge Foundation will award $2,500 in support of the 11th Annual First Words of Hope Luncheon taking place virtually on May 12, 2021 at 12 PM. The event’s title First Words of Hope, represents many things. It refers to St. Gerard House’s firm commitment to life individuals to their highest potential, and in doing so, offer parents and loved ones a renewed perspective on life with autism. The name also pays homage to one of the greatest blessings experienced by St. Gerard House staff, the opportunity to witness a child communicate successfully for the first time.

New Sustainable Communities Program Will Address Climate Change Impacts and Economic Inequities in the Triangle

Research Triangle Park, March 25, 2021: Triangle Community Foundation recently unveiled an updated Impact Area, Sustainable Communities, which they believe to be more reflective of community needs. The Impact Area combines and evolves their previous Environmental Conservation and Community Development programs, a choice they made based on the growing consensus that climate change poses a threat to the environment and to the people and assets in communities across the globe and in our own backyard.

Cleveland Community College breaks ground on Advanced Manufacturing Center

On Tuesday, March 16, 2021, Golden LEAF President, Chief Executive Officer Scott T. Hamilton joined N.C. legislators, state and local officials, and Cleveland Community College trustees and staff for the official groundbreaking of the new 30,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing center. The new center will provide training programs in mechanical drafting, electronics engineering technology, automation engineering technology, industrial systems technology, and computer integrated machining.

The Golden LEAF Foundation Board recently adopted a long-term strategic plan to serve as a roadmap for the next few years. During the process, Golden LEAF fine-tuned its priority areas and created goals for each of these areas.
