Golden LEAF Colleges and Universities Scholarship applications due March 1, 2022

The Golden LEAF Scholarship application for the 2022-2023 academic year is now available at CFNC.org. A total of 215 awards will be offered to students entering college for the first time this coming fall from qualifying rural and economically distressed or tobacco-dependent counties. Applications are due March 1, 2022.

Golden LEAF launches Flood Mitigation Program, hosts informational webinar February 1st

The Golden LEAF Foundation recently launched a $25 million Flood Mitigation Program funded by an appropriation from the State of North Carolina. Through the Flood Mitigation Program, the Golden LEAF Board will award funds to local governments for public infrastructure projects that result in mitigation of flooding.

The Community Foundation of Henderson County Announces Virtual Gathering for the 2022 Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Celebration

Hendersonville, N.C., January 11, 2021 – The Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Breakfast Committee has announced that the 2022 MLK, Jr. Unity Celebration will be held virtually. Due to public health conditions, the traditional breakfast held at Blue Ridge Community College was moved to a virtual format beginning in 2021. This year’s virtual celebration video will feature a keynote address from New York Times bestselling author Dolen Perkins-Valdez. Prayer, music, and dancing provided by local groups will accompany. The video is not live, and viewers are invited to watch from the comfort of their homes beginning any time after 9:00 AM on Monday, January 17th. Dogwood Health Trust Announces Second Round of Funding for Opioid-Related Collaborative Planning Grants, Names Recipients from 2021

Asheville, N.C. – Dogwood Health Trust today announced a second round of funding for opioid-related collaborative planning grants available to the counties, municipalities, or the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians located in Dogwood’s 18-county service region in Western North Carolina, including the Qualla Boundary. The Request for Proposals (RFP) is posted on Dogwood’s website, and proposals must be received by 5:00 p.m. on February 14, 2022. Award notifications will be made by the end of April 2022.
