Dogwood Health Trust Releases Multi-Year Goals and Objectives

Asheville, N.C. – Dogwood Health Trust today announced the formal release of its goals and objectives within each of the organization’s four strategic priorities: Housing, Education, Economic Opportunity, Health & Wellness. The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina Awards St. Gerard's House $20,000

St. Gerard House (SGH) announces a $20,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina to enhance parent involvement and safety for Grotto clients by installing a camera system. The Grotto program is a full-day, year round educational and therapeutic service to children aged 3 - 21 with autism spectrum disorder. A portion of funds will also support transportation for adult pre-vocational program participants in the community.

Dogwood Health Trust Helps WNC Communities Leverage American Rescue Plan Act Funds for Affordable Housing

Asheville, N.C. – Dogwood Health Trust recently awarded more than $11.5 million in grants to support affordable housing projects throughout western North Carolina. These grants, varying in amounts between $275,000 and $2.5 million, were awarded to counties and municipalities that intend to use funding through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) in order to address the critical shortage of affordable and supportive housing for vulnerable populations. Utilizing Dogwood’s grant funding, these counties and municipalities are now in a position to leverage even more resources, with just over $21 million already secured.

Charlotte, NC – Judge Allyson K. Duncan has been elected a Trustee of The Duke Endowment. “With her distinguished legal career, wide-ranging interests and expertise, and her deep roots in the Carolinas, we know Allyson Duncan will be a strong addition to our Board,” said Chair Minor Shaw. “Our founder wanted his Trustees to be ‘persons of character and ability,’ and she fits that mandate completely.”

St. Gerard House Expands Autism Care in Western North Carolina with Internal Infrastructure Expansion Grant

St. Gerard House (SGH) announces a $226,188 grant from Dogwood Health Trust to expand internal capacity in preparation of a future campus project. This infusion of funding creates three (3) full time jobs in the WNC region and builds the internal infrastructure necessary to scale up services as SGH moves to build a 10-acre campus in the coming years.

Cone Health Foundation Awards $4.3 Million to Nonprofits

Greensboro - Cone Health Foundation announced the commitment of $4,308,025 in grants to 43 different Greensboro-area nonprofit organizations. Some organizations will receive more than one monetary grant and others will receive technical assistance with no monetary grant. The awards support agencies working in the Foundation’s four focus areas of grantmaking:  access to health care, adolescent pregnancy prevention, HIV, and substance use/mental health disorders. Some fall outside of these defined categories and support community collaborations. The median award was $67,360 and 44 percent of grant awards were made in the access to care funding area.

Dogwood Health Trust Shares Results of Commissioned Regional Housing Study

Patrick Bowen with Bowen National Research will present the regional findings during an upcoming Dec. 3 webinar

Asheville, N.C. – Dogwood Health Trust announced today the availability of a comprehensive Housing Needs Assessment of Western North Carolina. The research and analysis, conducted by Bowen National Research between January and June 2021, includes a collection of primary data, analysis of secondary data, and on-site market research. Dogwood has invited Patrick Bowen with Bowen National Research to present the findings to the region in a webinar on December 3, 2021 beginning at 12:00 noon.
