NC Community Foundation distributes over $4 million in grants through NC Healing Communities Fund

North Carolina Community Foundation launched its NC Healing Communities Fund in January 2021 to benefit nonprofit organizations suffering from the financial impacts of COVID-19. The Fund specifically focuses on supporting organizations embedded in and serving marginalized communities, including communities of color, communities of lower wealth, mostly rural communities, and where English may not be the primary language.

NC Local News Lab Fund awards largest round of grant funding to date with new NC funding partners

The NC Local News Lab at the North Carolina Community Foundation has awarded $856,000 in new grants to news and community organizations.

Richburg, Hagan Honored for Distinguished Service

UNC Greensboro formally awarded its most prestigious public service honors to the late Senator Kay Hagan and Dr. Antonia Monk Richburg ‘87, ‘00 MPA during the Distinguished Service Awards ceremony held at the Elliott University Center Auditorium on Oct. 27. The recipients were selected in 2020, but the presentation was postponed as a result of the pandemic.

The Winston Salem Foundation Requests Grant Applications for Transportation to Employment

Lack of transportation is often a barrier to individuals and families moving out of poverty because they are unable to access and retain employment that pays a living wage. By improving access to efficient and affordable transportation, we can reduce underemployment, increase job retention and family sufficiency, and help individuals and families easily, safely, and affordably get where they need to go.

The Winston Salem Foundation Announces more than $1.4 Million in Scholarships to Local Students

The Winston-Salem Foundation is pleased to announce scholarship totals for the 2021-2022 academic year: more than $1.4 million has been awarded to 537 students seeking post-secondary education in North Carolina, the Southeast, and beyond.

SECU Foundation Answers Call for Help with Challenge Grant for Rowan County Non-Profit

RALEIGH, N.C., Nov. 01, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A $1.5 million challenge grant from SECU Foundation was recently awarded to Partners in Learning in Rowan County. The organization is seeking to raise the additional capital to expand services for families of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities through the construction of an education and clinical services facility at its new campus in Salisbury. The Foundation’s commitment is earmarked for the site’s SECU Family Development Clinic.

Community Foundation of Henderson County Announces Scholarships

Hendersonville, N.C., November 2, 2021 – Community Foundation of Henderson County has announced the opening of their scholarship applications for the 2022-23 academic year. The Foundation is offering nearly $600,000 in new and renewable academic scholarships for the upcoming school year through 275 award opportunities for local students. Scholarship applications opened on the Foundation’s website, cfhcforever.org, November 1. Graduating seniors, current college students, and returning adult/nontraditional students are all encouraged to apply. All scholarship applications must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2022.

Impact Alamance Invests $650,000 in Community Projects

As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthen the county’s grid of resources, Impact Alamance has invested $650,000 to local nonprofit organizations. A total of nine community agencies were awarded funds that aim to help make our community healthier, smarter and stronger. “We’re helping our children grow up to become healthier, smarter, and stronger by working to power a strong grid of resources across our county that deepen community connections and improve access to better outdoor spaces, schools, training programs, and more,” says Tracey Grazer, President of Impact Alamance.

Community Foundation of Henderson County Awards $25,000 for Youth and Young Adult Program Transportation

St. Gerard House (SGH) announces a $25,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Henderson County to support transportation for adult pre-vocational program participants in the community.
