The Duke Energy Foundation has distributed a total of $1 million to 39 organizations, focusing on addressing the needs of the most vulnerable and low-income residents in the area.

Executive Director of Good Shepherd Center, Katrina Knight, expressed gratitude for the grant, stating that the funds will be used to improve and expand the security system of their campus. This will enable them to continue providing a welcoming and safe environment for individuals seeking emergency food, shelter, and rehousing services.

The demand for food services at Good Shepherd Center has recently increased by 30%, leading to a growing number of individuals relying on the center for safety, shelter, and support. The grant from Duke Energy Foundation will be utilized to introduce modern security processes, including system advancements and technology upgrades.
Pam Hardy, the District Manager at Duke Energy, presented the grant award to Good Shepherd staff on August 7th. Hardy emphasized the importance of supporting organizations like Good Shepherd in their essential work for the community.
