Healthcare Foundation of Wilson was founded in 2014 after Wilson Medical Center transitioned to Duke LifePoint Healthcare. As a health legacy foundation, we manage assets from the former nonprofit hospital and invest them back into the Wilson community to improve health and wellness.

Position Description

Healthcare Foundation of Wilson (HFW) is seeking an experienced, community-minded leader for the position of Community Relations Coordinator. This role will develop and implement strategies to build positive relationships between HFW and our community, including managing public relations, outreach programs, and media relations that foster goodwill and support HFW’s mission. Key responsibilities involve creating outreach plans, developing content, coordinating events, managing media interactions, and maintaining a favorable public image for HFW.

Job Responsibilities

Marketing & Content Creation

• Develop and implement comprehensive public relations strategies and campaigns to shape and enhance the organization’s reputation. 

• Create and share a video presentation at each board member highlighting successful programs funded by HFW (Mission Moments). 

• Manage and edit the HFW website.

• Create and post to all social media platforms weekly – including grantee spotlights, national health month observances, HFW on the Move, event advertisements, etc.

• Design and distribute written press releases and digital materials to share information about HFW events, capacity building offerings, grant announcements, etc.

• Partner with a designated communications form for crisis management media plans.

• Design and distribute a yearly impact report for HFW that shares the accomplishments of programming, grants, and capacity building. 

• Design and distribute newsletters that spotlights the positive work done in the Wilson community through HFW programming, grants, and capacity building. 

• Manage, with the support of the operations manager, retrieving the photo and video release forms from all participants at events or spotlights that will be posted on any of our social platforms.

• Manage the media guidelines, branding requirements, and approvals for grantee announcements.

• Create internal and external documents to foster team efficiency and consistent branding guidelines – e.g. media kits, Microsoft Forms, Presentations, Documents, etc. 

• Utilize media software to create social media posts, videos, and website spotlights.

• Write grantee spotlight articles of successful programs funded by HFW. 

• Manage the budget for technology tools, software, and equipment for marketing and media.

• Recommend technology and equipment upgrades when necessary.

• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Community Engagement

• Develop and implement a comprehensive community outreach plan that includes events and strategies that align with organizational goals.

• Organize, promote, and manage a minimum of four community pop-up events each year that foster organization awareness and supports the priorities and values of the organization. 

• Cultivate and maintain positive relationships and reputation with community members, government officials, press, grantees, nonprofits, and other external groups to support HFW’s mission and values. 

• Organize and promote the video submission contest each year. 

• Sign-up, organize, and participate in community fairs that promotes health and wellness and/or allows citizens to learn about the opportunities available through HFW programming. 

• Exhibit and understanding of all grants and programming provided by HFW to ensure correct information or proper contacts is distributed at community events.

• Organize, promote, and manage nonprofit or medical professionals’ appreciation events through the year.

• Suggest community events representation from HFW should be prioritized.  

• Manage the budget for community relations events.

• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Customer Relationship Management & Data Analyst

• Lead the training and management of the customer relationship management software.

• Monitor media coverage and analyze campaign performance using metrics and key performance indicators to measure effectiveness.

• Monitor and create a plan to increase the followers on all social media platforms and the customer relationship management software mailing list.

• Organize and manage event registration using the customer relationship management software.

• Create queries and data reports using the customer relationship management software.

• Create surveys and data reports for the organization.

• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as communications, public relations, journalism, business, or marketing, or a related field.

• At least three years of experience in media design, community relations, event coordination, or related experience is preferred.

• Outstanding interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse groups and build rapport.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including writing, public speaking, and presentation abilities. 

• Proficiency in Word Press, Canva, customer relationship software (Neon One), Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere or other video editing software and Microsoft Suite

• Proficiency in managing web and social media platforms for outreach and engagement.

• The ability to develop and execute strategic plans and programs. 

• Strong problem-solving skills. 

• The ability to adapt to change in the work environment and manage unexpected events. 

• Commitment to the Foundation’s mission and values.

• Must have a valid North Carolina driver’s license with an automobile for daily work. 

• Be available to work evenings and weekends, as needed. 

• Must live in Wilson County. 

Work Location and Schedule

Healthcare Foundation of Wilson (In-Office) Full-Time (9 a.m. - 5 p.m. | Monday - Friday)

Salary & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $65K - $85K. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability insurance; 401(k) retirement plan with 4% match, family membership to Foundation Y, three weeks paid vacation and 10 paid holidays.
