Local PBS series producers receive grant from COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF HENDERSON COUNTY
The Will & Deni McIntyre Foundation has been awarded a $25,000 grant by the Community Foundation of Henderson County to help fund a project that is transforming recorded performances by NC artists and others for streaming media.
Based in Hendersonville, the Will & Deni McIntyre Foundation has produced two popular series for PBS, David Holt’s State of Music and My Music with Rhiannon Giddens, as well as the documentary Saving the Hansen House.
The foundation’s streaming project is Legacy Remastered. It is transforming dozens of hours of music and artists’ interviews that were originally filmed by the McIntyres for broadcast TV and delivering them to streaming platforms, where they will reach an ever-growing audience.
“We have lots of great musical performances that have only been seen in the context of network broadcasts,” said Will McIntyre, foundation co-chair and producer. “Once a music series has been broadcast and its network contract has run out, that content is not available to be viewed without re-editing and repackaging for new formats and platforms. It’s very satisfying to get this content out for public viewing on platforms such as YouTube, where it will be available to fans and new generations of viewers indefinitely. We think this will help raise the profiles of the contributing artists.”

My Music with Rhiannon Giddens premiered on PBS in May of 2022 and broadcast its third PBS season in 2025. Will and Deni McIntyre previously produced six seasons of David Holt's State of Music, which has been aired by PBS affiliates in all fifty states.
Community Foundation of Henderson County supports charitable programs in the greater Henderson County area.
