Intern Need To Knows
Overview
The Nonprofit Internship Program (NPIP) pairs college students with NC nonprofits for paid summer internships. This program is designed for Pell Grant-eligible students, recognizing that unpaid internships are often not feasible.
Applicants have the opportunity to be matched with a nonprofit host organization where they spend eight weeks interning over the summer. Internships offer a range of exposure and skill-building opportunities in areas including research, community outreach, public policy, communication, fundraising and social media. All of our opportunities are available in our NPIP Directory.
While interns' experiences vary by site, each host organization creates a work plan that ensures a rewarding experience, substantive opportunities and adequate supervision for their intern. NPIP participants also have the opportunity to connect with other interns in the program and participate in ongoing professional development throughout the summer.
